Now that summer is officially over here and the temperature has dropped, most people are turning their attention to indoor, cosy activities or indulging in the latest box set everyone's talking about. The picnic baskets have been firmly packed away for next summer, the fires are being lit and the sofa blankets are out!
As much as our hibernation instincts take over at this time of year, there are still so many fun things to. So today we're sharing some ideas for Autumn days out (and some indoor activities if you really hate the colder weather!).
Visit a pumpkin patch
Supporting local farmers is always a good thing for your community, so why not visit a nearby pumpkin patch to pick your own? Roasted Pumpkin is a great soup ingredient for the colder months, or you might want to try adding it to cake with some warming spices such as cinnamon. Or you can pick some to have a pumpkin carving night in time for Halloween!
Go foraging
It's apples aplenty at this time of year, so why not take some time to hunt down any apple trees that sit on public land nearby? Often you'll find some windfall apples that aren't damaged and you can pick your own to cook up a pie, crumble or to puree. Can you spot a food theme here?! If you're lucky, you might just catch the end of blackberry season too!
Visit local gardens
Botanical gardens are a fantastic place to visit during Autumn months. As the leaves change colour and the air is fresher, wrap up in a scarf and your favourite bobble hats to explore the outdoors a bit. We usually discover new plants and flowers each time we visit one!
Host a games night
If it's a rainy night and you don't fancy venturing outdoors, why not host a board games night? With a minimum of four people, you can play some classics like Scrabble, Monopoly or even something retro like Buckaroo! It's a perfect way to have a screen free night too and get everyone off their phones.
Cook a brunch for friends
Back on that food theme again! Brunch is one of the best meals of the day, so why not cook up some pancakes, eggs or even porridge with your foraged apple puree and a touch of cinnamon. It's the perfect activity for a lazy Sunday morning in October!
