I set eyes upon this beautiful, restored barn venue and instantly fell in love with it's original features such as the flooring, the beams and its moat terrace.
Nestled in leafy Greenwich, Tudor Barn Eltham has everything you could want for that rustic chic feel without travelling hundreds of miles into the heart of the countryside.
Venue staff are often an overlooked but incredibly important aspect of a Wedding day, so let's find out more about holding a Wedding at Tudor Barn Eltham from their Senior Events Manager, Charlie.
Hello, could you firstly tell our readers a little bit about you?
My name is Charlie and I am the Senior Events Manager at Tudor Barn Eltham. I am 25, and have been working here for 3 years now.
What do you love about your job?
I love weddings from start to finish, from meeting with the clients and helping them plan their special day, looking at colour schemes and discussing what works well to running everything on the day. My favourite bit is watching the couple’s faces at the ceremony and seeing how truly happy they are to be getting married.
How did you get into your business and into the wedding industry?
I was studying Hospitality with Events Management at a university in Birmingham, when I had to find a year’s work placement as part of my degree. I live locally to the Tudor Barn Eltham, so approached them for some waitressing work and a chance to work a bit in the office and gain some experience. After three months they offered me a permanent job, so I moved to a London university and carried on my studies whilst working as an Event Manager, it was exhausting. But I graduated in June of 2013 with a 2:1 BA Hons in Event Management and was promoted to Senior Manager. I am lucky enough to be getting paid for a job I am truly happy in and for working with such lovely people, both staff and clients!
What is your main area of work?
Once a client is has booked our venue for their special day they are assigned a dedicated event manager, who will work with them right up to the special day. So predominately I work with the clients through their planning process and at the event. However as Senior manager, I am also responsible for our staff and liaising with the other departments.
What do you aim to achieve for your clients?
Our core goal is to make sure that the Bride & Groom have the best day of their lives and create perfect memories of their wedding. While aiming to have made sure that the planning process was a stress free as possible.
Could you give us some information about your packages/prices?
This year we have designed and launched four great packages, based on recommendations from our previous brides & grooms.
All of our packages are based on a per person price, but unlike other venues we have a sliding scale, so the more guests you invite, the cheaper the per person price is.
Our packages (based on 150 adults) are:
Something Old at £66.50 per person,
Something New at £96 per person,
Something Borrowed at £112 per person and
Something Blue at £120.50.
We also do bespoke wedding packages to help brides and grooms who have a tighter budget.
Do you have any tips for couples when choosing what businesses to work with for their wedding?
My best advice is to seek references, check out the supplier on forums and blogs so see what their customers have been saying. Ask the venue you have booked at if they have worked with them before. Sometimes reviews can be out of context so don’t always assume that everyone is being 100% truthful as lots of emotions are involved, but it will still give you a good idea of what they are like.

What else does the venue have to offer besides Wedding celebrations?
The Tudor Barn Eltham is not only a beautiful wedding venue, but has a restaurant and bar open to the public 7 days a week, meaning you can come down and enjoy an afternoon tea in the sun on our moat terrace or a romantic meal in our Tudor restaurant. We also host a number of fantastic free and ticketed events, all details can be found on website, so make sure you have a look.
Thanks Charlie! We loved finding out more about this gorgeous venue. Keep an eye out for our new 'Cuppa and a Chat with...' feature!
