Every quarter, as a team we meet up and discuss how we'd like to give back to our local community. Many great idea's were suggested such as charity bike rides, football matches, obstacle courses and so much more! We wanted to do good in anyway possible; and we thought that the best way to include our customers in our quest to help, is to donate 10p from every order which will go toward an accumulative pot.
Thus, the 'Love and Things' charity fund was born! Each and every-one of us at Dust and Things has a special charity close to our hearts but we could only whittle it down to a small handful to share the quarter's donation between.
As big advocates for better mental health, we knew that your generously donated cash must go to a local mental health service. We decided to donate to Caerphilly Mist, which is a new child and adolescent mental health service for looked-after children with complex needs, who may be at risk of being placed in out-of-area residential or institutional care due to their mental health needs.
As a ‘wraparound’ therapeutic service for 5 -18 year olds their aims are to repatriate those young people living in residential care and prevent others moving into institutional care. The service also provides post placement psychological work with young people aged 16-21. The central purpose is to significantly reduce in-house placement breakdown and particularly the risk of out-of-county placement for children/young people judged to have CAMH difficulties.
MIST provides 24-hour, 365-day delivery. Their on-call service proactively and re-actively supports young people, families and carers by phone and offers out-of-hours visits when required.'
